Jodana is designed for migrant workers in India, where cooking appliances are often unavailable in small apartments or studios, especially in larger cities where living space is limited. As a result, they may have to buy temporary, low-quality equipment that doesn’t last and often ends up in waste sites when they relocate in search of better living conditions. Jodana offers a modular ecosystem that adapts to users' needs, growing with them as their families and cooking demands evolve.

How might we connect couples living apart to share one cooking experience and sustainably reunite them later in meaningful ways?

During our ideation process, we explored various patterns for achieving efficient spatial expansion. Recognizing that many apartments and studios face significant space constraints, we focused on maximizing the available area while thoughtfully addressing these limitations. Building on a flexible square grid, we developed a modular concept that can seamlessly expand both horizontally and vertically as needs continue to evolve.
